Dublin woman sentenced after being caught shoplifting in Cork city

A six-month suspended jail term was imposed at Cork District Court on a young Dublin woman who was caught shoplifting for the sixth time.

Tara Boyle of 59 Cooley Road, Drimnagh, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Cork District Court to a charge of theft of goods from Dunnes Stores on Patrick Street in Cork city on January 15, 2017.

Sergeant Gearóid Davis said the accused had one previous conviction for robbery and five counts for theft.

Judge Olann Kelleher was told that in the three years since this offence was committed, the accused had undertaken various courses in terms of rehabilitation and education.

Judge Kelleher imposed a two-month prison term but suspended it on condition that the accused would keep the peace and commit no further offences in the next two years.
