Cork Gardaí seize vehicle from motorist caught breaking multiple laws

Gardaí in Cork have seized a vehicle from an unaccompanied learner driver over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The driver in question was stopped by Cork City Roads Policing Unit (RPU) for speeding and was also found to have no valid tax and no insurance.
As a result, Gardaí seized the black Hyundai i30.
"Cork City RPU on Bank Holiday Operation stopped this driver for speeding.

"Mobility app check showed tax expired and driver had no insurance.
"Driver also a learner permit driving unaccompanied. Car seized," Gardaí stated.
The incident comes as Gardaí mounted additional checkpoints and patrols across the city and county ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend to ensure compliance with the Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Gardaí are continuing to follow the "four Es" with regard to policing the 5km restrictions - to engage with the public, educate, encourage and in the last resort to enforce the restrictions when needed.
