Gardaí waiting to interview woman with serious injuries following Cork city assault

GARDAÍ are hoping to be able to interview the victim of an assault near the railway station in the coming days.

The woman was injured in an assault on Monday night and a Garda spokesman said she is starting to improve.

No arrests have been made in the case.

The alarm was raised at around 9.30pm on Monday to say that a woman was unconscious on Railway Street.

When gardaí and the emergency services got to the scene, the woman was found to have serious injuries.

A forensics examination of the scene was carried out by scenes of crime gardaí.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the Railway Street attack or anyone who was in the surrounding area of Kent Railway Station, Railway Street, Alfred Street and Andersons Quay between 8pm and 10pm on Monday night, particularly road users with camera footage, to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021-4558510.
