Loose wheel nuts on a HGV among number of offences detected at Cork checkpoint

Loose wheel nuts on a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and an unsecure load were among a number of offences detected by gardaí and members of the Road Safety Authority (RSA) at a checkpoint in Cork earlier today.
Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit in Mitchelstown undertook the checkpoint near the north Cork town together with the RSA.
In a post on the Garda Síochána - Cork, Kerry & Limerick - Southern Region page, gardaí detail how a number of offences were detected at the checkpoint.
In one case they said a HGV had loose wheel nuts and “a badly leaking hub seal” which were rectified before the vehicle was allowed to continue.
In another case, gardaí said a load was not secured inside a trailer curtain.
“This load was secured before proceeding,” it said.
A car was also seized for no insurance or tax.
Gardaí added: "All road users must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and up to the tasks demanded of them. Your safety is our priority."
