University College Cork has announced it will reopen for the next academic year from September 28 with earlier starts for certain programmes such as medicine.

The teaching will be delivered in a hybrid model of online and face to face classes, with online seminars for larger groups and face to face classes for smaller meetings such as tutorials and laboratories.

The University is also putting into place a tutoring scheme for all first-year students to support their transition into third level.

In an email to students, Deputy President and Registrar, Professor John O’Halloran stated “that the safety of our students and our staff is paramount” and that “as much face-to-face teaching and learning as possible will be provided subject to the prevailing national public health requirements.” The term will finish on December 18 and exams will be online.
