A GARDA investigation has been launched into the Oireachtas Golf Society Dinner in Galway.
The probe has been announced in the wake of two resignations - former Minister for Agriculture Dara Calleary and former Leas Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Jerry Buttimer - after confirming they were among more than 80 people who attended the dinner.
Pressure is now mounting on Supreme Court Judge Seamus Woulfe and EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan, who also attended.
In a statement, a spokesman for An Garda Siochana said: "An Garda Síochána is investigating an event that was held in Co. Galway on the 19th August, 2020 into alleged breaches of The Health Act 1947 (Section 31A-Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) (No.3) Regulations 2020, as amended. As this is an active investigation An Garda Síochána has no further comment."
