Diversions are in place on the N71 at Rosscarbery following major flood damage in recent days.

Areas of west Cork, particularly Rosscarbery, Dunmanway and Rathbarry, were devastated by heavy rain in recent days, with homes and businesses left flooded and roads severely damaged.

A nationwide weather advisory has since been put in place with further rainfall warnings likely and possible wind warnings.

The weather advisory, which came into effect from midday on Monday, will remain in place until Saturday at 6pm.

Cork County Council has today advised that the traffic diversion on the N71 at Rosscarbery will remain in place until 7pm this evening, to facilitate emergency road repairs.

Eastbound traffic is diverted through the village. Westbound traffic will remain unaffected.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the area, as many roads have been damaged during the recent weather events.

Cork County Council said it will continue to monitor the situation closely.
