A warning has been issued for Rosscarbery Lagoon and the Warren beach on Monday advising bathers of potentially higher levels of bacteria in the bathing water over the coming days.

The increased bacteria is due to localised heavy rain and testing will take place on Monday with results available on Wednesday.

Beach users are advised to take precautions such as avoid splashing or swallowing the water and washing hands before handling food.

As well as this, people are recommended to avoid swimming with an open cut or wound and if you are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.

The warning is in place until Wednesday, August 19.
