Tributes paid to former Cork City Council senior engineer following his passing

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Joe Kavanagh, has expressed his condolences to the family of the late Anthony (Tony) Fleming, former Senior Engineer in Cork City Council’s Roads Design department, who passed away yesterday.
Paying tribute to Mr. Fleming, the Lord Mayor said:
“During his career with Cork City Council, Tony was responsible for major infrastructural projects that changed the face of Cork City. In addition to having worked on the Lee Tunnel, South Ring and South City Link projects, Tony was the lead engineer on the St. Patrick’s Street and Grand Parade renewal schemes, the Shandon Area renewal scheme and the renewal of the historic City Centre, a project which took in the North Main Street, Paul Street and Emmet Place areas. Under his direction, Cork City was transformed into the modern metropolis we know today.”
Mr Fleming is fondly remembered by his colleagues as an affable and approachable leader, who was particularly dedicated to the continuing professional development of his team, ensuring they were kept abreast of the latest developments in engineering and technology.
