Man arrested in connection with Cork city drug seizure released without charge

THE man questioned about a drug seizure in Cork city on Wednesday has been released without charge.
He was arrested after a search was carried out at an apartment on Barrack Street at around 8pm on Wednesday night. A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the operation.
€4,200 of cocaine and €2,175 of cannabis oils, cannabis vape pens and cannabis jellies were found in the search. A weighing scales was also seized.
Cannabis jellies are becoming more available in Ireland in recent months and are packaged similar to sweets. The jellies are infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive component of marijuana.
The operation was carried out by the recently-established City Centre Policing Unit, assisted by gardaí from Anglesea Street and the Bridewell stations.
The suspected drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
