Martin to meet British PM for the first time since becoming Taoiseach

Micheál Martin is meeting British Prime Minister Boris Johnson today for the first time since he became Taoiseach.

They are set to meet at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland, and are expected to discuss a number of issues of “mutual concern.” 

Covid-19 and the global pandemic is expected to top the agenda as the two leaders meet.

Both are expected to discuss their respective experiences of managing the virus and dealing with its economic and societal impact.

Brexit is also expected to be discussed, as negotiations between the EU and UK continue with less than six months to the end of the transition period.

Northern Ireland and bilateral relations between Dublin and London will also be discussed.
