Normal People actor Paul Mescal was the talk of Kinsale town after spending a night in the four-star Actons Hotel alongside Boyzone and Westlife singers, Keith Duffy and Bryan McFadden.
While Paul’s visit caused quite a stir, Acton’s Duty Manager Ger Grey said Keith and Bryan were a little overshadowed and treated like "normal people".
“My neighbour said to me, 'I hear you have a celebrity in the hotel' and I thought they were talking about the Boyzone and Westlife crowd and I said, who, Bryan McFadden and Keith Duffy? And they said 'no Paul Mescal'.
"I didn’t know who he was. I have never watched real people, or whatever it's called. I didn’t think twice of it.
“The girls recognised him, funnily enough.
"Poor Keith Duffy and Bryan McFadden were put on the back burner altogether.”
Mr Grey said Paul left after breakfast on Thursday morning.
“There was a big buzz about it. There was a bit of a stir. He was gone today and a lot of people were in, checking to see if he was there.”
The Actons Duty Manager said the young actor had mentioned he enjoyed his time in the West Cork town.
“He was saying to us that he really enjoyed his visit, he loved the hotel and we were on top of the coronavirus thing.
“He said it was a bit like being abroad on holidays, the weather was so good.”
