A Status Yellow weather warning has been issued for Cork.
Met Éireann issued the Status Yellow rainfall warning this morning and warned of spot flooding in areas.
The forecaster has said that spells of heavy rainfall will lead to accumulations of 20mm to 50mm in places with poor visibility and driving conditions expected.
In Cork city, there was a noticeable lack of shoppers due to the heavy rain that fell throughout the day.
Tonight, rain will continue to move northeastwards and conditions will clear up towards dawn.
The warning is in place until 7am tomorrow and a mild night with lowest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees is expected tonight.
Met Éireann is forecasting temperatures to rise to 16 or 17 degrees by Thursday morning in moderate to fresh southerly winds with a dry day of sunshine forecast.
Showery rain will move over coastal areas towards the evening and highest temperatures of 20 to 22 degrees are expected.
