Two people due in court in connection with murder of Timmy Hourihane

Two people are due in court this morning in connection with the murder of Timmy Hourihane.

Mr Hourihane, a former chef from Bantry, died in the early hours of October 13 last year following an assault in the Mardyke Walk area of the city.

He and other homeless people had gathered to live in tents.

He was found close to his burning tent, with severe injuries.

He was rushed to Cork University Hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A garda spokesman said two men were arrested this morning and are due to appear before Cork district court.

They are 26 and 37 years old.
