Traffic jams have been reported across Cork following flash flooding from a thunderstorm earlier this afternoon.

According to AA Roadwatch, there has been spot flooding on the M8, as well as along Rochestown Road, Mahon, including Skehard Road, and on Grange Road near Frankfield Church.

Heading into Cobh along Fota Road is also reported to be flooded.

On Social media Cork residents posted videos and pics of the flooding that came amid a yellow rainfall warning issued by Met Eireann. The warning, is valid until 6am Friday.

Speaking to the Gardai after 6pm, a spokesperson said that the worst of the surface flooding has dissipated with traffic levels returning to normal in most areas.
