Increased measures aimed at tackling Covid-19 are expected to be announced in the coming hours.
The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has made recommendations to Cabinet in response to the recent increase in cases across the country.
The Cabinet met this afternoon to discuss these recommendations and the meeting lasted longer than expected.
There are reports that the new measures will include putting all matches and sporting events “behind closed doors” and workers to revert to remote working where possible.
It is also understood that people over 70 avoid public transport, shop during designated hours and limit their interactions to a small network of people.
More to follow.
