Cork County Council has moved to advise the public that Barleycove Beach in West Cork is not accessible from the car park area.

This is as a result of damage caused to the pontoon bridge during Storm Ellen.

"Barleycove pontoon is out of service due to storm damage and there is currently no public access to Barleycove beach from the car park area pending repairs to the pontoon," the council wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the council has also issued an update on Dursey Island Cable Car this morning.

The cable car has now resumed normal service after it passed a post-storm inspection.
