Cyclist taken to hospital after colliding with a truck near Cork town

A cyclist was taken to hospital earlier this morning following a collision with a truck.

The incident occurred in Clogheenavodig on the N71 near Bandon at approximately 10am this morning.

Emergency services attended the scene and the cyclist was taken to hospital.

The injuries the cyclist sustained are not believed to be life-threatening.

In a statement Gardaí said:

"Gardaí attended the scene of a traffic collision between a cyclist and a truck this morning at approximately 10am in Clogheenavodig in Co. Cork.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. These are not believed to be life-threatening."

This is the second collision involving a cyclist which has occurred in Cork in less than 24 hours.

Yesterday evening, a cyclist received serious injuries following a collision on the R624 Fota Road.

The cyclist, a man in his 40s, collided with a van which was parked on the side of the road.

In a statement, Gardaí said the man's injuries are not life-threatening and that enquiries are ongoing.
