The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Patrick O’Donovan is due to visit flood affected areas of West Cork this morning.

Heavy rainfall and flooding in the region in recent days has left a number of roads seriously damaged, and some impassable.

Yesterday, Cork County Council commenced emergency road repairs on the N71 following the floods, while the Rosscarbery/Glandore Rd (R597) remains closed until further notice.

During today’s visit, the Minister of State is expected to visit some of the worst affected areas in the region to see at first hand the damage caused by intense rainfall over the weekend.

He will also meet with officials and local communities in Dunmanway this morning.
