More people waiting for beds at CUH ED than at any other emergency department

More people are waiting for beds at the emergency department at Cork University Hospital (CUH) today than at any other emergency department in the country.

According to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), 37 admitted patients are waiting for beds at the hospital’s emergency department this morning.

Elsewhere in Cork, eight people are waiting for beds at the Mercy University Hospital’s emergency department.

Nationally, 220 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

A total of 189 people are waiting in emergency departments, while 31 people are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

University Hospital Limerick, Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Kerry are the three worst-affected facilities.

At University Hospital Limerick, 32 people are waiting for beds at its emergency department and a further nine people are waiting for beds in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Twenty-one people are waiting for beds at University Hospital Kerry.
