A Cork TD has said answers are needed after errors were identified in the calculated grades system for the Leaving Certificate.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed that two errors had been identified in the system and said a full statement will be issued from the Department of Education in relation to the matter later today.
It is understood that the mistakes may impact on around 10 per cent of students who received their results this year and Cork TD and Sinn Fein Education spokesperson, Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire said the news raises “enormous questions”.
In a post on Twitter he said: Will this lead to some students who were downgraded by standardisation be reversed? If so will they be able to access 3rd level courses they missed out on? Minister needs to come before Dáil today. We need answers.”
