The Greyhound Track in Youghal looks set to remain open until at least the end of 2022.
The facility team have agreed there will be a review of the track in the final quarter of 2021.
Fianna Fáil TD for Cork East, James O’Connor welcomed the news and thanked the Irish Greyhound Board and Youghal Track supporters club for their engagement on issue.
Youghal Greyhound Track was threatened with closure during 2019 following an Indecon report into the future sustainability of greyhound tracks in Ireland.
In recent months staff and volunteers at Youghal Track have put serious effort into addressing the concerns outlined in the Indecon report.
It is understood that following negotiation between the Irish Greyhound Board and Youghal Track supporters club, a memorandum of understanding has been agreed that the track will remain open.
