Funeral of Cork sporting figure John Kennedy takes place

The funeral of Cork City FC stalwart John Kennedy has taken place.

The private funeral, which took place at the Holy Cross Church, Mahon, was held in accordance with current Covid-19 public health measures.

Mourners gathered outside the church to provide a socially-distanced guard of honour.

Family, friends, former colleagues from Ógra Chorcaí and Foróige and his comrades from Cork City Football Club all lined the road.

The Skibbereen native, who had been involved with the Rebel Army since 1989, died on Friday.
