Cork school confirms case of Covid in email to parents

A SCHOOL in Carrigtwohill has been notified of a confirmed case of Covid-19.

Parents of children at Scoil Chliodhna Community National School received an email from the school yesterday evening, advising them that the Health Service Executive had informed the school of "a confirmed case of Covid-19 in our school".

A letter from the HSE was attached to the email.

The HSE letter stated that a confirmed case in the school had been notified to the Department of Public Health HSE-South.

The letter continued: "A public health risk assessment has been undertaken. The parents of any children deemed to be close contacts of the confirmed case have been contacted and advised accordingly."

It added: "If your child has not been identified as a close contact at this time, your child does not need a test for Covid-19, they can continue to attend school, and no further actions are required at this time."

A statement from the Cork Education and Training Board said: "Cork ETB has been informed of a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the school. The school has, at all times, followed and implemented all Department of Education and Skills and HSE guidelines. The HSE is now managing this process and the school is working with the HSE and following all their advices."
