A MAJOR housing development including 113 new homes has been proposed for Ballincollig.
The proposed site of the development is on Maglin Road, located just north of the N22, around 10km west of Cork city.
The development, proposed by Stonecrest Construction Ltd. would include 113 residential units, a two-storey creche, road improvement works and all ancillary site works Some 59 two-storey houses, varying from two-bedroom units to four-bedroom units with a mix of detached and semi-detached dwellings, are included in the proposal.
The proposal also includes plans for 21 four-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, 15 three-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, 4 three-bedroom terraced dwellings, and 19 two-bedroom terraced dwellings.
It also includes plans for an apartment building ranging in height between four and five storeys containing 54 apartments, ranging from three-bed to one-bed.
The site will also include a recreation park, open space and a creche.
Meanwhile, developers proposed a large area of biodiversity enhancement to the south of the site to offset the loss of existing hedgerows and trees.
Access to the site would come at the junction between Maglin Road and Castle Road, which will also include pedestrian access and dedicated cycle paths.
The proposal has been submitted to An Bord Pleanála as Strategic Housing Developments, the fast-track planning scheme for large housing developments, and a decision is due in early January 2021.
