Man critically ill in Cork University Hospital after crash which claimed his wife's life

THE husband of the woman killed in an accident in west Cork yesterday is critically ill in hospital this morning.

He was the driver of their car which was in collision with a lorry at Baxter's Bridge, between Bandon and Enniskeane, at around 12.45pm yesterday.

The retired English couple moved to West Cork to live.

The dead woman's name has not yet been released.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Gardaí closed the road yesterday to carry out a forensic examination of the scene of the accident.
