Motorcyclist airlifted to CUH following serious collision near Kanturk

A motorcyclist was airlifted to Cork University Hospital earlier this evening following a serious collision at Ballymaquirk Cross near Kanturk.

The collision, which involved a motorcycle and a car, occurred at approximately 5:45pm this evening. 

The occupants of the car, two men in their 20s, did not require medical assistance. 

In a statement Gardaí said: 

"Gardaí are investigating a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a car that occurred on the N72 Ballymaquirk Cross on Sunday, September 13, 2020.

"The alarm was raised at approximately 5:45pm and Gardaí and emergency services attended at the scene. 

"The motorcyclist (male 40s) was seriously injured in the collision and was airlifted from the scene to Cork University Hospital. 

"The occupants of the car, two men in their 20s, did not require medical assistance," they said.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to contact Kanturk Garda Station 029-20680 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
