Another case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in a Cork school, this time a secondary school in Blarney.
Scoil Muire gan Smāl notified parents and students today of the confirmed case of Coronavirus by letter and by posting on their website.
The Covid case follows Friday’s National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) briefing which confirmed 253 more cases across the country, with 116 in Dublin and 14 in Cork.
A number of schools in Ballincollig also have had cases in recent days including Coláiste Choilm and Gaelscoil Uí Ríordáin.
A letter from the HSE said that a public health risk assessment had been carried out and no close contacts had been identified in the school.
The letter said the Department of Public health HSE-South is monitoring the school situation closely and anyone who has any signs of the illness is advised not to go to school and to restrict their movements.
The letter also said those who have not been identified at a close contact may continue to attend school, provided they do not develop any Covid symptoms.
