Judge Olann Kelleher sentenced him to 11 months in prison.

A Cork man with 401 previous convictions including 60 for theft and 108 for burglary has been jailed for eleven months for his latest burglary.

39-year-old William McCarthy of no fixed address pleaded guilty and asked the sentencing judge to put him on some kind of probation bond on his release from jail, stating that he needed help on getting out of prison.

Judge Olann Kelleher said that he would not do this in the present case in light of the large number of previous convictions.

He sentenced him to 11 months in prison for the latest burglary committed in the city.
