Emergency services respond to fire at Cork home

FOUR units of the Cork City and Cork County Fire Services have responded to a fire in Glanmire.

FOUR units of the Cork City and Cork County Fire Services have responded to a fire in Glanmire.

The units responded to a call out to a fire in Castle Jane at around 4pm.

The Third Officer on duty, Ger Ryan said the fire broke out in a downstairs bedroom while the occupant was out. 

A neighbour spotted the fire and raised the alarm. 

Two units from Cork city had attended, along with two units from Midleton.

The fire was brought under control and the fire services left the scene at around 6.30pm.

Mr Ryan said there has been substantial damage caused to the house.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire, although it is believed to be accidental.
