Almost 30 people were being treated for Covid-19 in Cork University Hospital (CUH) last night, the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases at any hospital in Ireland.
HSE figures show that 29 patients were being treated at CUH for the virus at 8pm last night.
There were also 11 other patients being treated for Covid-19 at the Mercy University Hospital last night.
Earlier today, HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid said the health service was now seeing admissions to hospital with Covid-19 across the country, not just in Dublin.
He added the hospitals with the highest number of Covid-19 patients were now in Cavan General Hospital, Cork University Hospital, Tallaght Hospital, Beaumont Hospital and Letterkenny University Hospital.
According to the latest figures, 1,844 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Cork in the last 14 days (up to October 21st)
The 14-Day incidence rate per 100,000 population is 339.7, the seventh-highest rate nationally.
