Long traffic delays in Cork this morning despite Level 5 travel restrictions

TRAFFIC in Cork this morning is busy with delays in a number of areas despite Level 5 travel Covid-19 restrictions now being imposed.
An Garda Síochána have introduced a range of measures including a large number of static and rolling checkpoints to ensure people adhere to the 5km travel restrictions unless their travel is regarded as essential.

However, there are long delays on the N25, with Cobh Cross particularly busy. Many motorists are reporting the delays are being caused by Garda checkpoints.
AA Roadwatch said this morning: "Traffic is slow on the N25 westbound approaching J3 Cobh Cross from J4 Carrigtohill and also from the Fota side.
"Slow approaching the Dunkettle Interchange on the M8 southbound.

"Slow inbound on Commons Rd heading towards Blackpool.
"Busy also on the N71 from The Viaduct through to the Bandon Rd R/A.
"Heavy on the N22 eastbound towards Ovens.
"Traffic is heavy both ways on the N71 in Innishannon."
