Cork court: Woman with over 100 shoplifting convictions convicted in her absence

Judge Kelleher issued the warrant for her arrest so that she could be brought to court for sentencing.

A 36-year-old woman with over 100 shoplifting convictions was convicted in her absence today of carrying out five further thefts from stores around Cork city.

Judge Olann Kelleher issued a warrant for the arrest of Yvonne Carroll of 22 Kilmore Road, Knocknaheeny, Cork, who failed to appear before Cork District Court for the latest cases against her.

Evidence was given today of five incidents of shoplifting carried out by Yvonne Carroll.

The most recent occurred at Tiger on St. Patrick Street where she stole €20 worth of property on February 26. Before that she went to Holland and Barrett on St. Patrick Street where she stole €57 worth of cosmetics on February 13.

Then last year she carried out three other shoplifting offences in July – on July 7 she stole €210 worth of clothing at Dunnes in Ballyvolane, on July 13 she stole a DeWalt drill from B&Q in Mahon Point and finally on July 16 Yvonne Carroll snatched a bottle of vodka at Tesco on Paul Street.

Judge Kelleher issued the warrant for her arrest so that she could be brought to court for sentencing.
