Gardaí in Cork seized €2,000 of suspected crack cocaine in Cork City yesterday afternoon.
The discovery was made by gardaí from the City Centre Policing Unit in Cork, who were on patrol in Fitzgerald Park at 3.30pm in response to suspected drug dealing.
Gardaí stopped and searched a man, aged in his late teens, who was found in possession of nearly 50 deals of suspected crack cocaine worth €2,000.
The man was arrested and brought to Bridewell Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
He has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
