Latest: Post mortems on bodies of three killed in Kanturk murder-suicide concluded

Flowers placed at the entrance to the O'Sullivan family farm at Assolas, near Kanturk, North Cork.

THE post mortems on the three men killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Kanturk have concluded.

The final post mortem was carried out today on the body of 25-year-old Mark O'Sullivan, who was found dead in a bedroom of his family home at Assolas, between Kanturk and Castlemagner on Monday afternoon.

Gardaí believe he was shot by his 22-year-old brother Diarmuid and 59-year-old father Tadgh.

Their bodies were discovered alongside two firearms in a nearby field, beside a ringfort, on Monday afternoon.

The post mortems on their remains were concluded yesterday. They are understood to have taken their own lives.

The alarm was raised on Monday morning by Tadgh O'Sullivan's wife, Ann, who managed to escape from the house.

Gardaí are not releasing the results of the post mortems, carried out by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster.

They will form part of files being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and for a Coroner's inquest.

Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
