Popular Cork venue still open for music - virtually

Triskel Arts Centre is hosting a range of concerts for people to enjoy free of change from the comfort of their homes whilst in lockdown.

In an effort to connect musicians and musical audiences, the Tobin Street venue is hosting two online series, a classical one, 'At Home with Triskel', and a jazz one, 'Piece by Piece' in association with the Improvised Music Company.

This Friday, April 17, there will be two concerts, which the public can watch via Triskel's Facebook page or IMC’s YouTube channel.

Cork-born flautist, Fiona Kelly, will perform in 'At Home at Triskel' at 1pm with Nick Roth and Olesya Zdorovetska performing the second 'Piece by Piece' concert at 8pm. The concerts are free for everyone to enjoy.

Fiona Kelly is based in London but is looking forward to connecting with her home audience.

Fiona began her studies at the Cork School of Music with Evelyn Grant and Sabine Ducrot.

She completed her undergraduate studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Anna Noakes and went on to complete a Masters at The Juilliard School in New York with Robert Langevin, principal flute of the New York Philharmonic.

Her programme will include Telemann, Debussy, Bach, Dave Heath and more.

Despite the uncertainties of the current times, Triskel said it is committed to continuing to employ artists and engage audiences.

Further concerts will follow this month and next.

On Friday, April 24, Dublin-based woodwind instrumentalist, composer and music producer Seán Mac Erlaine will perform.

Next month there will be performances from the likes of Cormac McCarthy, Cora Venus Lunny, Paul Dunlea, Izumi Kimura and Úna Monaghan.
