Munster legend O’Mahony on Forbes’ elite ‘30 under 30’ list

CORK rugby star Peter O’Mahony has been included in the prestigious Forbes ‘30 under 30’ list.

The 28-year-old Munster and Ireland stalwart is featured on the list in the Sports and Games category.

The Corkman was part of three Ireland teams who were crowned Six Nations champions, as well as teams who won a Grand Slam and the Triple Crown.

Forbes notes O’Mahony’s endorsements with Adidas, Audi Cork and the Bank of Ireland.

The fourth annual Europe list recognises 300 people who are making waves in various industries including technology, sport, science, media and entertainment.

O’Mahony is steeped in Cork’s rugby traditions, describing how his father is “part of the furniture” at Cork Constitution.

The young Peter started playing with Cork Con at 5-years old and went on to play schools rugby with Presentation Brothers, winning the Munster Schools Senior Cup in 2007.

He is one of seven Irish people to be chosen for the ‘30 under 30’ list by Forbes magazine, which also compiles lists on the world’s billionaires, top colleges and best-performing companies.

The other Irish people on the list include freelance investigative journalist Sally Hayden who has amassed an extensive portfolio while reporting on migration, conflict and humanitarian crises across the globe.

Kerry actress Jessie Buckley has been recognised in the Entertainment category for her performance in the 2018 film ‘Beast’.

Kevin Glynn, a UCD graduate who lives in London, was added to the list because of his work as the co-founder of Butternut Box, a pet care startup delivering home-cooked dog meals directly to customers.

21-year-old Edel Browne is one of the youngest names on the list and is the founder of Free Feet Medical. She has worked to prevent gait freezing, a common symptom of Parkinson’s disease.

The founder of Beats Medical, Ciara Clancy, joins Browne in the Science and Healthcare category. She has developed digital therapeutic programs so more people can access physical therapy at home for people with Parkinson’s.

Conall Laverty, aged 29, was also added. He is the founder and CEO of Wia, a startup that provides the backend for developers and companies to build Internet of Things devices.
