Linda and Dan Kiely joint winners of Tech Person of The Year Award

JUST days after creating hundreds of new jobs for Cork city, Voxpro founders Linda and Dan Kiely have been announced as joint winners of the Tech Person of the Year award.

They and the winners of seven other categories were lauded at the [email protected] Leaders Awards ceremony in the Rochestown Park Hotel last night.

From humble beginnings on Marlboro Street, Voxpro has grown into a multimillion euro business that employs 5,000 people across the globe.

Upon receiving their award Ms Kiely said the success of Voxpro was down to their staff.

“It’s the coming together of their innovation, their drive and the tireless work ethic that has brought the company from a six-person operation in 1995 to a global tech leader today,” she said.

“Since setting up, we have been so fortunate to have had such a skilled and brilliant workforce to choose from.

“Over the next 18 months we’ll be adding a further 400 people to our Cork team — and I’m confident that we’ll have a wealth of talent to choose from.”

“We are extremely humbled by our win,” Mr Kiely added.

“In Voxpro, tech is our life 24/7 so the fact that people are acknowledging the work we put in and are happy with our efforts is really rewarding.”

McKesson, Smarttech27, Altada, GetVisibility, VMware International, Xanadu and GridBeyond also took home awards and Gaelcholaiste Mhuire (AG) was honoured for excellence in education.

“The pace of growth in Ireland’s technology industry is incredibly exciting, and this is in no small part due to the work that is being done by the many ICT companies located in one of Europe’s most active and growing tech hubs – Cork,” Caroline O’Driscoll, Chairperson of [email protected] said.

“This year we had the highest number of nominations ever, and each year it becomes increasingly difficult to select winners because of the high calibre of contenders.

“The future for Cork Tech is extremely bright.”
