Happyalone get chance to play at Electric Picnic

CORK band Happyalone has been shortlisted to compete for a place at RTÉ 2FM’s Play The Picnic stage this August.

The band join a total of 30 rising Irish stars who are all vying for an opportunity to play alongside headliners Kendrick Lamar, Massive Attack and NERD in front of 55,000 music fans and industry professionals.

The festival sold out in under five minutes in 2017.

All proceeds from the Text-In public vote competition go towards the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children up to the age of five who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care.

They also provide end of life care to all children up to the age of five.

Voting opened yesterday and will run until Thursday, July 27 when the winner will be announced.

To vote for Happyalone and support the foundation TEXT PICNIC9 to 50300.

Happyalone have exploded on the Irish music scene in 2018, with their first single ‘Colours’ being championed by Spotify in their Irish Viral 50.

They have been since nominated as Irish Times New Artist of The Week in June, and have recently played successful shows in Dublin’s Bello Bar and two slots at last week’s Body & Soul festival.

The band are currently preparing to release a fourth single in August, and a debut EP the following month.

They are scheduled to headline Townlands Carnival’s Rising Sons stage on Friday night at this year’s festival in Macroom.

First prize in the competition also includes an opportunity to play a second slot at the larger Cosby Stage, as well as a masterclass with Festival Republic MD Melvin Benn on how to get festival bookings for your band; a masterclass with 2fm on how to go about approaching radio stations and obtaining airplay; a studio session with some of Ireland’s top sound engineers at 2fm’s state-of-the-art studios; and have their song broadcast to the nation on 2fm.
