Dara Ó Briain in scorching form at Marquee

LIVE at the Marquee’s summer season is in full swing and with Cork basking in a record-breaking heat wave, comedian Dara Ó Briain was the latest to draw a full crowd to the iconic tent.

The Wicklow-born comic, famous for his intelligent content and hilarious engagement with audience members, had the packed tent in stitches.

It was not his first time in Cork - recent years have seen him become almost a regular at the Opera House and the Marquee - but the big tent was still packed out, with a raucous audience in good spirits waiting to greet him fresh on the back of an eight-night stint at Dublin's Vicar Street.

Ó Briain delighted the crowd with some of his prepared work but was more than happy to wing it, engaging with audience members to their delight and, in some cases, mortification.

The crowd was in hysterics as the comedian recounted an unexpected encounter with Mary Loud McDonald and a very, very brief encounter with the US coastguard.

And, of course, his last trip to Cork, which saw two fans ejected mid-gig, was discussed as was a previous Marquee show which took place during torrential rainfall and could not have been further from last night's conditions.

His improvisation when engaging with the crowd also created some moments of genuine comedy genius as he dished out slagging, compliments and even the odd bit of advice about technology in the household, and the traps it can lay.

The Mock the Week presenter has proven he is comfortable in any situation, be it on radio or television.

Despite his assertion that he doesn't entertain at home or at work, he certainly entertains on stage.
