Cork included in heavy rainfall advisory issued for weekend

Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory for this weekend which includes Cork.

Periods of heavy rainfall are expected from Saturday through to Tuesday.

The levels of rainfall expected may lead to some local flooding as river levels remain elevated.

The heaviest of the rain will be through Saturday afternoon, and again on Monday and Tuesday morning.

Rainfall accumulations of 40 to 50 mm are expected in some places from Saturday to Tuesday.

Some spot flooding is also expected.

Scattered outbreaks of light rain or drizzle are expected across Munster tonight.

Lowest temperatures of one to four degrees are expected before midnight with a slight risk of frost for Munster. Temperatures will rise overnight.

Rain will be widespread for a time early on Saturday night, but a transition to clear spells and showers will extend from the west.

Sunny spells and scattered blustery showers are forecast for Sunday. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail, and a risk of isolated thunderstorms.

On Sunday night, showers will become increasingly confined to the west and north for a time, but cloud will increase and rain will push in from the Atlantic overnight.

Monday is forecast to be wet and windy with rain becoming widespread in the morning.

Tuesday looks to be a relatively mild day with widespread outbreaks of rain for a time, transitioning to brighter intervals and showers in the afternoon.

The advisory issued includes Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, Donegal, Cavan, Westmeath, Offaly, Longford and Connacht.
