Cork City Marathon cancels rescheduled date amid Covid-19 crisis

Cork City Marathon has been cancelled for 2020.

The race had originally been rescheduled for September, but the organisers have now made the decision to cancel the race entirely.

In an email to registered athletes, the organising committee said it was with a heavy heart that they had made the decision which was for the safety of all involved.

“We dont believe it would be possible to run the event safely in its current format in September.”

All registered athletes will now be automatically deferred to the 2021 race, which will be held on the June Bank Holiday Weekend, Sunday 6 June.

Anyone who does not want to run in 2021 can request a refund by emailing [email protected]

While the real race is cancelled, the organisers said they will be putting on a virtual race for the athletes with details being released tomorrow, Friday 29 May.
