City Boss Caulfield is Cork Person of Month

CORK City manager John Caulfield has been named November’s Cork Person of the Month after he led his side to a historic League and Cup double in the 2017 campaign.

Having already cemented his name in the history of Cork City football club and in the hearts of every city fan, this latest honour will see him go forward for possible selection as Cork Person of the Year at the Gala Awards Lunch on January 19 of next year at the Rochestown Park Hotel.

“John Caulfield has brought the success, the excitement and the crowds back to Cork soccer, reminiscent of the glory days of Hibs and Celtic teams in the ’70’s,” said awards organiser Manus O’Callaghan.

The City manager has been praised far and wide with current and former players citing the positive influence Caulfield has had on their careers and the club.

“John Caulfield’s drive is relentless,” said Cork City captain Alan Bennett.

“The intensity of the man just blows me away,” he added.

Despite being one of the older players, Bennett revealed that the attitude Caulfield instills in the team ensures 100 percent commitment every day.

“You arrive in on a Monday morning, being a bit older you’re a bit tired, but after meeting with him for 15 minutes you want to burst into training.

“He’s setting standards that this club will have to stay at and, hopefully, our recent successes is a big watershed moment for Cork City,” he added.

Newly capped International and former Cork City star Seanie Maguire, now with Preston, said “I owe the Club and in particular John Caulfield everything.” Success on the pitch is only achieved through great dedication, attention to detail and hard work, which Caulfield possesses in abundance according to people behind the scenes at Cork City football club.

“The manager has revitalised the club since arriving in 2013, his dedication, hard work and obsession for getting every detail right,” said Niamh O’Mahony of FORAS, the Supporters Trust that owns and runs Cork City FC.

“John bears the brunt of high expectations and few will ever see the impact of small, subtle conversations and decisions behind the scenes,” she added.
