A COUPLE who were together since they were aged 14 wed on their 10 year anniversary together.
Childhood sweethearts Chloe Thompson, from Farranree, and Greg Harte, from Gurranabraher, hope to move into their dream home shortly.
“We are waiting for the keys to our forever home in Farranree... We hope to be in our own house within the next few weeks. Having our own Christmas tree this year is our goal!”
They met through mutual friends when they were just 13 and became a couple when they were 14.
Four years ago, Greg moved to California to pursue his soccer career, but he suffered an ankle injury.
Chloe said: “Greg moving was the biggest test for us. We were both heartbroken to be apart after six years together at the time. He was to stay for four years but after a year and a half he came home to me. He proposed within this year and a half, we just knew how much we loved each other then.”
They got engaged during a weekend away in Waterford on June 21, 2015.
The couple were wed at the Church of the Resurrection this summer, followed by their reception in the Blarney Hotel and Golf resort.
“It was the best day of our lives,” the couple said.
Chloe looked stunning in her dress, from Runaway Bride, Wexford. Her jewellery all came from Neville Jewellers. Tan was by Audrey of Tanning Guru while make-up was by Rebecca O’ Donovan and hair by Niamh of Diamond Divas.
Key family members present on the day were Chloe’s mam Maud and dad John, her stepdad Noel, along with Greg’s mum Anne and dad Liam.
The band Gemini entertained the guests and their first song was to Perfect by Ed Sheehan.
Chloe said: “The words ‘We were just kids when we fell in love...’” are perfect for us because we were just kids when we fell in love.”
The couple used East Cork Wedding Cars and Trace of Cakes made the wedding cake for the couple.
As to what was the most memorable part of the day, Chloe said: “Walking up the aisle with my dad and my stepdad and seeing Greg turn around full of emotion is a moment that sticks out in my mind.”
For Greg, he said: “Getting to marry the woman of my dreams.”
The only thing not on their side on the day was the weather — but Chloe said it didn’t affect the day in the slightest: “I feel like it kept everyone together in the one room.”
