Wedding of the Week: A Disney themed day

DISNEYLAND Paris provided the backdrop for a very special proposal.
Patrick O’Sullivan, of Blarney, asked Fiona Maverley, from Ballinlough, to marry him during a trip to the world-renowned theme-park, as she is a massive Disney fan.
The couple, who now live in Bishopstown, and are in the process of building a home in Blarney, first met at UCC — but it wasn’t until later on that romance blossomed.
Fiona explained: “We first laid eyes on each other in UCC in 2011, I was in the incoming class for my Masters that year, and Patrick was the year before me, so had come into our class the very first week to present his final project.
“That was it until a year later, when I moved to Kilkenny to start on the Glanbia graduate programme, I walked into the office and he was sitting there! The rest is history!”
They were married on December 28 last, in the Honan Chapel, UCC, by Father Ray Riordan — the same date as the bride’s parents’ wedding anniversary.
The bride looked stunning in her dress from Vows wedding boutique in Blarney, by designer Mori Lee, with jewellery by Azure jewellers based on Georges Quay. Hair was by the Powder Room Girls and make-up was by Michelle Barrett. All of the groomswear was purchased from Morleys in Daunts Square.
The couple were joined by both sets of parents, Michael-John and Anne Maverley and Jim and Eileen O’Sullivan. Family also travelled from near and far — including her maid of honour Yvonne O’Keeffe who flew from Melbourne and sang The Rose at the ceremony.
Bridesmaids also included Karen Cotter, Eimear Kavanagh, Niamh Horan and Susan Horan. Groomsmen included Best Man: James O’Sullivan, Aidan O’Sullivan, Sean O’Sullivan, Padraig Conway and Ivan O’Leary. The bride’s brother and cousin, Kieran Maverley and Cian Kavanagh, were ushers.
The reception was hosted in the Rochestown Park Hotel. Fiona said: “Colm, the wedding planner, really went above and beyond in making my Disney vision come alive... we cannot thank them enough!”
The three-tiered Disney inspired cake was by the Baker Boy Cakes, decor at the hotel and church was by ‘To Have and To hold’, also providing entertainment was magician Ger Kearney, ‘Here comes the trio’ and ‘Sax and the city’. Videographer was Wedfilms.ie and photos were by Hayes Photography
The couple had their first dance to Kiss The Girl from The Little Mermaid.
Fiona said: “It was everything we wanted and more, and we’re excited to be starting out our lives together!”
