THEY travelled 15,000km across the world to Australia separately — but came home to Ireland together.
Tracy Cummins, from Mayfield, and John Hannan, from Mallow, first met in Perth, Australia, where they were both on a working visas with friends.
“We met each other out one night and it was love at first sight,” Tracey laughs.
“We kept in contact and would meet up any opportunity we got.
“Once our year was up we decided that we would come home together.”
On their return to Cork, the couple moved back into their parents’ homes for a while and decided that they would rent before renovating their own family home and moving into Lavally in March, 2019.
Tracy is a Montessori teacher, working with young children with autism, while John is a farmer.
John proposed on her 30th birthday in October, 2018, in Whites hotel in Wexford.
“He had the engagement ring hidden in a shoe box and when I opened it up, he wrote ‘will you marry me’. It was a very special moment.”
“In the meantime, we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Sophie Hannan, in July, 2018.”
The couple decided to have a New Year’s wedding to ring in 2020 on a positive note with all their loved ones by their side.
The special ceremony was held at Church of Our Lady Crowned in Mayfield and the reception was hosted in the Carrigaline Court Hotel.
The bride’s dress was bought in ‘Amore Bridal Wear’, Youghal.
With Tracy’s supportive sisters, Sharon and Avril, by her side as her glam squad, the hair, makeup and tan was ready for the special day.
The bridal party consisted of Maid of honour Avril Cummins (Tracy’s sister), best man Colin Hannan (John’s brother) and the couple’s beautiful 18-month-old daughter Sophie as flower girl along with Aicha Hafidi.
Brian Hannan Chow, Stephen Hannan Chowas, Jamie Cummins and Dwayne Cummins — the page boys — all walked up the aisle before Tracy along with the two flower girls.
“The most memorable thing about the day for me was walking up the aisle with my dad (Eddy Cummins),” said Tracy.
“It is amazing to always have this memory. It was great to ring in the New Year as Mr and Mrs Hannan with family and friends.”
The couple’s first song was Hey Ho by Lumineers, sung by Red Effect, which was playing when they met in Oz.
Their gorgeous three tier cake was made by Meaning of Cake.
