WEST Cork Literary Festival is hosting an online conversation between New York Times best-selling author Leslie Jamison and Sinéad Gleeson on Tuesday, October 13 at 8pm.
The paperback edition of Jamison’s latest collection of essays, Make It Scream, Make It Burn, has just been published.
Make It Scream, Make It Burn is a meditation on isolation, longing, and the conflicts for those who tell true stories about the lives of others. The essays take the reader deep into the lives of strangers, from a woman healed by the song of ‘the loneliest whale in the world’ to a family convinced their child is a reincarnation of a lost pilot.
Jamison is the author of the bestsellers The Recovering and The Empathy Exams, as well as the novel The Gin Closet. Jamison writes for the New York Times Magazine, Harper’s, Oxford American, A Public Space, Virginia Quarterly Review, and The Believer.
Sinéad Gleeson’s essays have been published by Granta, Winter Papers, and Gorse, and broadcast by the BBC and RTÉ. Her debut essay collection, Constellations: Reflections from Life, won Non-Fiction Book of the Year at 2019 Irish Book Awards and the Dalkey Literary Award for Emerging Writer.
