Wedding of the Week: 'A day filled with music... and a wedding squeezed in there somewhere'

MUSIC brought this Cork star and his new wife together, so it was only fitting it played a major role in their big day.

When Pat Fitz first clapped eyes on Ashley Neff, he knew she was the woman he would marry one day.

He says: “Myself and Ashley knew each other since 2010 when we met in The East Village in Douglas. I knew the moment I met her she was the one but it was our love of music that brought us together finally in 2015.

“Ashley is an incredible singer. She sang back up for me a few times and most recently sang lead alongside me at our one rendition of A Star Is Born. She is professionally trained, unlike me — a bluffer!

“We got engaged in an old church ruin on a hilltop in Girona, Spain. I had two photographers hiding in plain site by the church and a few onlookers but we jumped the barriers and looked around the ruins and when the time was right I went down on one knee.

Through a few tears and applause from onlookers, Ashley said yes and made me the happiest man in Girona.”

Fast forward two years and the couple got wed this autumn. The bride wore a pronovious gown from Amore in Youghal, hair was by Dawn the Hairy Fairy and make-up was by Christine O Connor MUA.

Flowers were by Eleanor Barrett. The couple’s own vintage American Chevrolet camper van provided the transportation for the bridal party.

Pat says, “We spoke our vows in the beautifully quaint Crooke Church in Co Waterford. Fr Cormac Breathnach SMA, a family friend, gave us the most thoughtful and personal ceremony (including his own rendition of Simply The Best). The ceremony was topped off amazingly by Niall McCabe and Hugh Dillon, who provided the music surrounded by our nearest and dearest.

Aisley says: “Our reception was held in Faithlegg House Hotel, Co. Waterford. Our vision for our big day was an old manor house filled with music and a wedding squeezed in there somewhere and that’s exactly what happened.”

Conor O’Shea, AKA The Loungeman, had people dancing on and off tables even before the main course came out .

The amazing Toy Story themed cake was by Liz Ryan.

After hilariously heartfelt speeches, the dancing continued to the sounds of The Jabronies and Dj Danny Mac.

The special day was captured on camera by the incredible Shane O’Sullivan (SOSAC) and Anthony Fleming Productions captured the whole day on video.
