VOXPRO founders Dan and Linda Kiely expect to expand in Cork following a €150 million takeover by Canadian firm TELUS International.

Speaking after the deal was announced yesterday, the husband and wife team said that the jobs of the 1,600 people that are employed in Cork are not at risk, and the new deal will give them greater resources to expand.

"It's very much about growth. It gives us the opportunity to grow even further. The partnership will allow us to grow in a different way," they said.

While the details of the deal have not been made public, the €150 million figure has been confirmed by sources to be true.

The Kielys started the business 20 years ago above a pub on Marlboro Street as a paging company with six staff but now employ 2,700 people worldwide.

Cork Chamber CEO Conor Healy said that Voxpro had been responsible for "very significant" job growth in Cork and are now in a position to grow further.

"It's a very significant point in the Voxpro story which has been a fantastic success in Cork in the last few years. A lot of that employment was created at a time when it was very much needed," he said.

Most of that growth has come in the last few years as the company expanded into the United States, the Philippines, and Romania in recent years and offering a wide range of business outsourcing services to clients like Google and Airbnb.

The company will now operate as part of TELUS International, a larger outsourcing company with 28,000 staff worldwide.

The Kiely's said that the reaction from staff had been positive and the culture of their workplace would not change.

"It's all been completely positive. TELUS are very much aligned with the same culture. They are very much about the same kind of values, and they have a focus on the employees," they said.

The Voxpro brand will continue as 'Voxpro – powered by TELUS International' and the Kielys will continue to run the company as part of the larger TELUS International group.

The acquisition will see Mr Kiely, Voxpro's CEO, join the TELUS International senior leadership team under Jeffrey Puritt, President and CEO.

"We couldn’t be more proud to find a fabulous partner like TELUS International - a company that shares our entrepreneurial spirit and relentless desire to redefine and disrupt the outsourcing industry when it comes to serving the customer experience needs of such important brands," he said.

Mr Pruitt of TELUS International said the partnership with Voxpro will allow them both to meet the demands of the big brands worldwide.

“Together, we provide a truly differentiated offering in the marketplace designed to meet our fast-growing partner demands for more locations, flexible and agile support structures, and highly engaged multilingual team members committed to customer service excellence," he said.
