VOXPRO founders Dan and Linda Kiely said their business success is proof that ‘Cork companies can have global ambitions and impact’.

The couple were speaking as they accepted the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Business Award’ at the Cork Chamber dinner in Dublin last night. They were honoured for taking their company from just six employees 20 years ago to a major multinational which employs more than 1,500 people in Cork alone and was sold for $150m to Telus International this summer.

Simon Coveney, keynote speaker on the night, said: “If anybody has been the embodiment of entrepreneurship, of ambition, of generosity and of determination in the midst of economic challenges, Dan and Linda Kiely have done that to extraordinary effect and inspired many other Cork people and companies to try and do the same.”

Both Dan and Linda are natives of the city, from Turner’s Cross and Douglas respectively, and met while working in the Cork Examiner.

They decided to go into business for themselves, starting in a small premises above a pub on Marlboro Street.

“It is an incredible honour for Linda and I to accept the award - and join such an esteemed group of recipients,” Dan Kiely said.

“We started Voxpro in our home city of Cork and our headquarters have remained in Cork for more than two decades, so you can imagine how much this accolade from our own business community means to us today.

“We set out with a big dream to redefine our industry.

“We’ve always been relentless in what we do and a big part of our success has been as a result of our agility and always having the mindset of a small company.”

Voxpro now has more than 2,500 employees worldwide and offices in Europe, Asia and the United States. It is Ireland’s largest international provider of technical support and sales operations solutions.

Linda added: “We hope that our story inspires others and is proof that Cork and Irish companies truly can have global ambitions and impact, and that this great city and country has everything they need to realise those dreams.

“I also want to thank our wonderful Voxpro team - Dan and I are continuously proud and amazed at the extraordinary work that the Voxpro team achieves every day.”

Bill O’Connell, President of Cork Chamber, said: “Dan and Linda are deserving of this award not just for their many business achievements but also because they are fantastic ambassadors for Ireland and the Cork region in particular.”
